What are crew socks?
Crew socks reach the middle of the calf, usually 6 to 8 inches above the heel. They are taller than ankle socks and shorter than knee highs, which makes them the most versatile everyday length: they cover the ankle in boots and sneakers, and look intentional with skirts and cropped trousers.
Our women's crew socks
Soft knit crew socks
The soft knit crew socks have a smooth Japanese-style knit and eight colours, from neutral coffee to diamond red.
Checked crew socks
The women's checked knit crew socks are a fine 168-needle acrylic knit with a subtle check: easy to wear and sweat-absorbing.
Wool blend crew socks
For cold days, the ribbed wool blend crew socks add warmth under boots.
Patterned crew socks
The retro floral crew socks come five to a pack with an embossed flower knit, a lovely gift set.
How to style crew socks
- Sneakers and jeans: a white or cream crew sock is a clean classic.
- Loafers and cropped trousers: show a coloured or checked sock between hem and shoe.
- Skirts and Mary Janes: floral or ribbed crew socks give a vintage feel.
- Boots: fold the cuff over ankle boots for a cozy look.
Crew socks vs ankle socks vs knee highs
Ankle socks are best for low shoes in summer; crew socks are the all-rounder; knee highs and thigh high socks add warmth and style with skirts and boots.
Choosing fabric
- Cotton blends breathe well for everyday wear.
- Acrylic knits are soft, colourfast and easy care.
- Wool blends are warmest for winter.
Care tips
Wash with similar colours, inside out. Lay wool blends flat to dry. Replace socks when the heel gets thin.

Building a sock drawer
A balanced drawer has a few neutral crew socks for every day (black, white, gray, coffee), a couple of warmer wool blends for winter, a few fun patterned pairs, plus thigh high socks or boot socks for skirts and boots. Replace pairs when the heel thins or the cuff loses stretch.
Crew socks for sneakers
Visible crew socks with sneakers are one of the easiest trends to wear. Pull them up straight or scrunch them slightly; white and cream are classic, while colour-matched socks and shoes look modern.
Sizing
Our women's crew socks are one size for most women; the floral 5-pack fits EU shoe 34-40 (about US women 4-9). See the sock size chart if you have larger feet.
Why socks lose their shape
Heat is the main culprit. Hot washes and high dryer settings break down elastic and felt wool. Wash cool, inside out, and dry flat or on low for crew socks that keep their fit.
Crew socks as gifts
Patterned crew socks are an easy small gift for teachers, coworkers and friends, and multipacks make great stocking stuffers. See Christmas socks for festive picks.
Fabric guide for crew socks
| Fabric | Feel | Best season |
| Cotton blend | Soft, breathable | Spring, summer, everyday |
| Acrylic knit | Smooth, colourfast | All year |
| Wool blend | Warm, cushioned | Fall and winter |
Crew socks for work
For office days, choose solid or subtle patterns like our checked knit in navy, black or coffee. Match the sock to your trousers for a longer leg line, or use a contrasting colour with cropped trousers for a modern look.
Crew socks for travel and walking
On long walking days, a smooth crew sock with no bulky seams helps prevent rubbing. Pack one pair per day plus a spare, and choose wool blends if you are heading somewhere cold.
Patterned crew socks
Patterns are the easiest way to personalise an outfit. Florals feel romantic and vintage, checks look polished, and ribbed textures add depth to neutral colours. When the socks are the statement, keep shoes simple.
